10月20日下午,諾丁漢大學(xué)卓越燈塔計(jì)劃(寧波)創(chuàng)新研究院首批十個(gè)科研團(tuán)隊(duì)正式入駐位于寧波國(guó)家高新區(qū)的過渡場(chǎng)地,這標(biāo)志著研究院科研創(chuàng)新發(fā)展邁入新的階段。

諾丁漢大學(xué)執(zhí)行校長(zhǎng)尼克邁爾斯教授,諾丁漢大學(xué)卓越燈塔計(jì)劃(寧波)創(chuàng)新研究院執(zhí)行院長(zhǎng)周蔭強(qiáng)教授、寧波諾丁漢大學(xué)管理委員會(huì)相關(guān)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)及首批入駐研究院科研團(tuán)隊(duì)負(fù)責(zé)人及科研人員出席了本次儀式。
尼克邁爾斯教授代表寧波諾丁漢大學(xué)及卓越燈塔研究院向首批入駐的科研團(tuán)隊(duì)表示祝賀。研究院執(zhí)行院長(zhǎng)周蔭強(qiáng)教授介紹了首批入駐的科研團(tuán)隊(duì)及過渡場(chǎng)地的空間分布,并展望了研究院的未來發(fā)展并提出了要求。

科研團(tuán)隊(duì)的入駐是研究院自今年成立以來迎來的一個(gè)里程碑。我非常期待與他們攜手實(shí)現(xiàn)我們的研究計(jì)劃。毫無疑問,他們已經(jīng)準(zhǔn)備好在這里開展激動(dòng)人心的、以目標(biāo)為導(dǎo)向的研究,我相信這些團(tuán)隊(duì)將探索、發(fā)現(xiàn)和解決本土和全球性的課題!
隨后,周蔭強(qiáng)教授帶領(lǐng)團(tuán)隊(duì)參觀了三大科研中心的實(shí)驗(yàn)室及工作室,向研究人員介紹了研究院的進(jìn)展和未來發(fā)展規(guī)劃。
據(jù)了解,此次入駐的十個(gè)科研團(tuán)隊(duì)集聚了相關(guān)領(lǐng)域國(guó)際頂級(jí)的科研資源,研究方向主要集中在智能制造、綠色化工與能源、生命健康三大領(lǐng)域,力爭(zhēng)產(chǎn)出國(guó)際一流的重大創(chuàng)新成果,在多學(xué)科交叉前沿領(lǐng)域占據(jù)全球戰(zhàn)略制高點(diǎn),成為寧波經(jīng)濟(jì)社會(huì)高質(zhì)量發(fā)展的科技硬核力量和強(qiáng)大引擎。
如“5G增強(qiáng)混合現(xiàn)實(shí)仿真和數(shù)字端口技術(shù)”團(tuán)隊(duì),將開發(fā)和研究下一代人工智能仿真系統(tǒng)、VR/MR驅(qū)動(dòng)的數(shù)據(jù)分析與交互仿真、協(xié)同邊緣計(jì)算與綠色AI等前沿智能制造技術(shù)和系統(tǒng)!百Y源循環(huán)和節(jié)能減排技術(shù)”團(tuán)隊(duì)則依托浙江省有機(jī)廢棄物轉(zhuǎn)化及過程強(qiáng)化技術(shù)重點(diǎn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室,聚焦綠色技術(shù)解決方案,在流程、產(chǎn)品或服務(wù)使用更少的資源、產(chǎn)生更少的廢物并降低環(huán)境破壞。再如“新型磁共振成像技術(shù)”團(tuán)隊(duì)將運(yùn)用新型磁共振成像技術(shù)探究評(píng)估人類肺部、探究新冠病程發(fā)展和愈后損傷評(píng)估,以期在醫(yī)學(xué)成像領(lǐng)域帶來技術(shù)革新。
諾丁漢大學(xué)卓越燈塔計(jì)劃(寧波)創(chuàng)新研究院由寧波市人民政府與英國(guó)諾丁漢大學(xué)合作,于2021年5月25日在寧波國(guó)家高新區(qū)入駐啟動(dòng)。研究院充分利用寧波諾丁漢大學(xué)立足本土、面向全球的獨(dú)特優(yōu)勢(shì),引進(jìn)英國(guó)諾丁漢大學(xué)“卓越燈塔計(jì)劃”的科技資源,致力于獨(dú)創(chuàng)性領(lǐng)域的研究和前沿技術(shù)的開拓,集創(chuàng)新研究、成果轉(zhuǎn)化、技術(shù)轉(zhuǎn)移、人才培養(yǎng)于一體,旨在打造國(guó)內(nèi)領(lǐng)先、國(guó)際一流的科技創(chuàng)新綜合平臺(tái),以支撐和帶動(dòng)產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展。
The first ten research teams officially join China Beacons Institute
20 October: The first ten research teams officially joined China Beacons Institute (CBI) at its interim site located in Ningbo National Hi-Tech Zone, marking a new stage in the development of CBI’s research and innovation.
Professor Nick Miles, Provost of University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), Professor Patrick Chau, Executive Director of CBI, and other members of the University Management Committee attended this event with the first ten research teams.
On behalf of UNNC and CBI, Professor Nick Miles congratulated the first ten research teams joining CBI. Professor Patrick Chau, Executive Director of CBI, introduced the research teams of first round and the space allocation of the CBI interim site, and looked forward to the future development of CBI.
“This is the first milestone of the institute since officially launching this year and I am delighted to bear witness to these teams who are uniting together with us in our research goals and who are no doubt ready to start their exciting new research projects. The new research teams will be a part of this goal-orientated institute that strives to make progress and discoveries that impact lives both locally and on the global stage.”
After, Professor Chau, led the teams on a tour of laboratories and workspaces of three Beacons and introduced the progress and future plan of CBI to the researchers.
The first ten research teams joining CBI this time gathered top international research resources in related fields. Their research themes are focused on three main fields: Intelligent Manufacturing, Green Chemicals and Energy, and Life Science and Healthcare. They strive to produce world-class major innovation achievements, pioneer in interdisciplinary fields, and become the major drive in Ningbo economics and social development.
For example, the "5G Empowerment Mixed Reality Simulation and Digital Port Technology" team is developing the next generation AI empowered simulation system, VR/MR powered data analysis and interactive simulation, and Collaborative edge computing and green AI. “Development of Green Technologies for Waste Recycling and Process Efficiency Improvement” team is focusing on developing green technology solutions, as well as products or services that use less resources and/or energy, generate less waste, and cause less environmental damage than alternatives.
The “Novel Magnetic Resonance Imaging” team is using novel magnetic resonance imaging techniques to investigate the assessment of the human lung, the development of coronavirus and the assessment of post-healing damage, with a view to bringing about technological innovation in the field of medical imaging.
The Nottingham Ningbo China Beacons of Excellence Research and Innovation Institute, jointly established by University of Nottingham and Ningbo Municipal Government, was launched on May 25th 2021 in Ningbo National Hi-Tech Zone.
The Institute leverages the unique “Ningbo-based and global-oriented” advantages of UNNC. By introducing the key international technological and innovative resources of the Beacons of Excellence from the UK, the intention is to attract global technology innovation resources. This allows the China Beacons Institute to focus on original research and cutting-edge new technology development, the aim being to establish a world-class scientific and technological innovation platform with innovative research, research achievement transformation, technology transfer and talent cultivation, in order to support and drive the industry development of Ningbo.
